The Y Foundation of Sarasota recently hosted a Y Achiever Program breakfast and awarded almost $100,000 in scholarships to 74 students. Now in its 22nd year, the Achiever program encourages middle through high school students to maintain good academic standards and to participate in extra-curricular activities. The majority of the students are minority youths.
A highlight of the annual event is the presentation of the Tracy Ross Memorial Scholarships. This year’s recipients are DeLeon Jelks; Ashlan Mathis; and Kelly Quispe.
